Williamson Farms became a century farm in 2006. Our home farm was purchased by James Williamson in late December 1905. It was a mixed operation with dairy cows and the fruit orchard. It was passed to George and his wife Lavinia, then onto James and his wife, Vera who had four children, Ronald, Diane, Marian and Allan.
Ron purchased the farm from his mother in 1977. He married Phyllis in 1989, and they have three children, Blair, Ashley and Carrie. Phyllis currently lives at the farm with the children and is a partner in the Williamson Farms. Allan and his wife Chris, live west of the home farm operation, just next door. They have 3 daughters, Nicci, Jill and Gwen. You can see some of them helping with markets and events on the farm. As the managing partner of Williamson Farms, Allan is responsible for the farm crops and livestock. We grow in rotation, food grade soybeans, wheat and corn. We raise the beef cattle and chickens with our own farm grown corn.
Gwen started her own business, Gwen’s Garden Produce in 2005, and offers a variety of home grown vegetables, garlic, herbs, plants. In 2011 Gwen graduated from the University of Guelph with a degree in Horticulture and erected her first greenhouse in 2012.
The on farm store, mostly operated by Phyllis, is open from 10am – 5pm daily in the summer and Thursday to Saturday during the winter. It is located behind the farm house. Up the laneway and to the west, our on farm store offers a variety of products, produce and frozen meats. We will special order cuts for customers and try to meet most requests. All of our beef is corn finished, and with no added hormones or chemicals, has great flavour. Our pork is grown locally by our neighbours and chickens are raised for slow roasting for the great old fashioned taste. We make our Maple Syrup in the spring and invite you to visit!
2008 saw the addition of our Corn Maze. We offer this fun filled adventure from early August through October for you to find your way through!
The Williamson Farms Country Store located at 14 King Street West in Forest, and operated by Chris hosts our own beef and pork, Gwen’s Garden Produce and so much more. We offer a great variety of Ontario grown products such as Bright’s Cheese, Barrie Bros. products and Garlic Box.
We also carry great gift ideas, collectible, wooden toys, & baby gifts for the little ones in your family! Be sure to stop in for some of Shaw’s ice cream we offer in the summer months!
So, we welcome you to visit the farm, take some time in the maze, have your picture taken with our “Corny Cob Family” and see our farm animals or just come in to the store. Be sure to take some time to check out the Country Store in Forest!
